An Interview with Author Rasagna Rao

Elite One Stories: How did you select the stories included in this book?

Author: I selected these stories based on truth and emotional depth, not perfection.

Having travelled across multiple countries and met women from diverse backgrounds, I noticed one universal pattern, strength often shows up quietly, through endurance, resilience, and the courage to begin again.

Each story in this book reflects a real moment where a woman discovered strength within herself, often during life’s most challenging phases. I wanted to bring together diverse voices, experiences, and cultures to remind readers that resilience is universal, and every woman has the power to rise from within.

Elite One Stories: What does the title “The Next in Her” signify to you?

Author: To me, “The Next in Her” represents the untapped strength, identity, and courage that every woman carries within—but may not always recognize.

It signifies that no matter where she is in life, there is always a “next” version of her waiting to emerge—stronger, more aware, and more aligned with who she truly is. Sometimes, it takes challenges, setbacks, or even silence for that version to come forward.

This title is a reminder that a woman is never defined by her current circumstances. There is always more within her—ready to rise, ready to evolve. Even when she feels stuck, there is always a “next” waiting for her.

So don’t give up—on life, on your thoughts, or on who you are.

Elite One Stories: How do you think readers from different cultures will connect with this book?

Author: I believe readers from different cultures will connect with this book because, while the settings and circumstances may vary, the emotions are universal.

Having interacted with women from diverse backgrounds, I’ve seen that feelings like resilience, self-doubt, sacrifice, and the desire to be seen and valued are shared across cultures. These stories capture those deeply human experiences.

Even if a reader hasn’t lived the same life, she will recognize parts of herself in these journeys. And that connection—that quiet realization of “this is me too”,is what makes the book meaningful across boundaries.

Elite One Stories: What role does vulnerability play in building strength?

Author:  I think Vulnerability is often where real strength begins. What may seem like the weakest link often becomes the strongest part of the chain—because it’s where the deepest transformation happens.

It’s in those moments of honesty—when a woman allows herself to feel and acknowledge pain or uncertainty—that she starts to understand herself more deeply. Instead of weakening her, that awareness becomes her foundation.

In this book, vulnerability isn’t shown as something fragile, but as something powerful. It’s what allows these women to confront their realities, make difficult choices, and eventually grow into stronger versions of themselves.

True strength isn’t about hiding emotions,it’s about having the courage to face them.

Elite One Stories: How important is self-belief in overcoming difficult circumstances?

Author: As one of the scholars once told me, “She who believes she can, already stands halfway there.”

Self-belief is the foundation of overcoming any difficult circumstance. Before the world begins to support you, you have to stand for yourself. It’s that inner voice that keeps you going, even when everything around you feels uncertain.

In many of the stories in this book, the turning point wasn’t a change in situation—it was a change in how these women saw themselves. The moment they began to believe “I can get through this,” everything else slowly started to shift.

Self-belief doesn’t remove challenges, but it gives you the strength to rise above them.

Elite One Stories: What advice would you give to women who feel stuck in life?

Author: I would say this very humbly because I know what it feels like to be there feeling stuck doesn’t mean you are lost, and it certainly doesn’t mean you are finished.

Sometimes, life pauses you before it pushes you. And in that stillness, even if it feels heavy or confusing, something within you is quietly preparing to rise or begin again stronger.

You don’t need to have everything figured out right now. Start small. Start with being honest with yourself—about what you feel, what you need, and what you’ve been holding back. Give yourself permission to outgrow what no longer feels right, even if it’s uncomfortable.

There will be moments when you doubt yourself, when nothing seems to move, but that doesn’t mean nothing is changing. Growth is often invisible before it becomes undeniable.

And most importantly, don’t wait for someone to come and change things for you. The shift begins within you, in the smallest decisions you make for yourself every day.

You are not stuck—you are in a phase that is asking you to become the next version of yourself.

Elite One Stories: Are you planning a sequel or similar collection in the future?

Author: Haha, not a sequel, but the next collection will explore a completely different segment. So it won’t be a continuation,it will be an evolution.
